We will tour you from the most traditional city, Beijing, to the modern cosmopolitan Shanghai. We will visit the Chinese national treasure – big panda in Chengdu, and check out the scenic sights Xi’an. A holiday to China is full of contrasts, surprises and the most unique culture clashes in the world.


Highlights of the Trip

SHANGHAI

Day 1: Arrive in Shanghai (D). You will meet with your driver and tour guide to transfer to the hotel. In the evening you will visit the Bund and have dinner. You will then embark on the Huangpu River Cruise to experience the beautiful night views of Shanghai, followed by free time to shop at Nanjing Road.

The Bund is famous for its grand, Western-style buildings that were built in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. It once housed numerous banks and trading houses from the United KingdomFrance, the United StatesItalyRussiaGermanyJapan, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as the consulates of Russia and Britain, a newspaper, the Shanghai Club and the Masonic Club. Magnificent commercial buildings in the Beaux Arts style sprang up in the years around the turn of the 20th century as the Bund developed into a major financial centre of east Asia

Day 2: Shanghai (B/L/D). You will have a full day of touring Shanghai which will include visits to The Pearl TV tower (2nd ball), Jade Buddha Temple, Yu Garden and Yu Market. You will have the opportunity to sample Chinese tea at Huxinting Tea House, visit Shanghai People’s Park as well as Tianzifang, and Xintiandi Lanes. After the tour, you will return to the hotel.

Yu Garden
Established in 1577 by a government officer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) named Pan Yunduan, Yu Garden is a must-see scenic spot in Shanghai. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying. The garden was specially built for Pan’s parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.

Day 3: Shanghai (B/L/D).After breakfast, you will transfer to the Zhujiajiao Water town where you will have free time to explore Zhujiajiao. 

Zhujiajiao Water Town
Zhujiajiao is an ancient town of 1.700 years of history. It is 50km away from Shanghai city centre. In the ancient time, the town is a trade centre due to its canals. It has become a popular tourism spot over the years. Similar to Venice in Italy, Zhujiajiao is endowed with beautiful bridges, waterways, alongside with architectures of traditional Chinese style.

CHENGDU

Day 4: Shanghai – Chengdu by flight (B/L/D). In the morning, you will take a flight to Chengdu. You will visit Kuanzhai Alley – Jinli Street after lunch. In the evening, you will watch a face-changing performance, which is a traditional form of art performance originated from Sichuan province over a thousand years ago. 

Day 5: Chengdu (B/L/D). A full day trip to Leshan Buddha. 

Day 6: While in Chengdu you will visit the Panda Centre to see the Panda enclosures and learn about the efforts which are being made to preserve this rare species. After dinner, you will transfer to the train station to take the overnight train to Xi’an.


XI’AN

Day 7: Xi’an (B/L/D).You will arrive in Xi’an in the afternoon, met by your tour guide and driver. You will visit The Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, and Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum. In the evening, you can have a leisure walk through Qujiang Ruins Park followed by transfer to the hotel.

BEIJING

Day 8: Chongqing – Chengdu by high-speed train (B/L/D). You will be picked up by your guide and driver and transfer to Chongqing Train Station to take the train to Chengdu. Upon arrival in Chengdu, you will meet your guide and driver and transfer to the hotel. After lunch, there is a trip to Kuanzhai Alley and Jinli Street for shopping. During this day, there is the following optional activity: Face-Changing’ performance at China Opera House (if you want to go, please ask help from the tour guide directly, and he will charge it for you.)

After the tour, you will transfer to the train station to take the high-speed train from Xi’an to Beijing. Upon arriving in Beijing you will meet with your tour guide and driver and transfer to your hotel. You will enjoy a Peking Roasted Duck dinner in the evening. 

Kuanzhai Alley
Kuanzhai Alley is situated in the downtown of Chengdu City. The Kuanzhai Alley consists of Kuan Alley (Wide Alley), Zhai Alley (Narrow Alley) and Jing Alley. The 3 streets are the remaining part of the buildings after the chaos of war in Qing dynasty. It’s still maintaining the original looks for hundreds of years. 

Day 9: Beijing (B/L/D).There will be a trip to the Great Wall Mutianyu Section (Cable Car included). You will be able to take time to appreciate the stunning views from one of the Seven Wonders of the World. In the afternoon, you will take Hutong Rickshaw tour. In the evening, you will go to Nanluogu Alley for a stroll and free shopping. After the tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel.

Hutong 
Hutong is a traditional residence style typically seen in Beijing. Since the mid-20th century, a large number of Beijing hutongs were demolished to make way for new roads and buildings. More recently, many hutongs have been designated as protected, in an attempt to preserve this aspect of Chinese cultural history. Hutongs were First established in the Yuan dynasty (1206-1341) and then expanded in the Ming (1368-1628) and Qing (1644-1908) dynasties.
Hutong

Day 10: Beijing (B/L/D).You will start your morning with the opportunity to see the Flag Raising Ceremony in Tiananmen Square; followed by breakfast at the hotel. You will then have a full day touring Beijing which will include visits to: the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, and the Temple of Heaven. After the tour, you will be transferred to the airport and return to Jersey.

The flag raising ceremony attracts thousands of visitors each day. it is of great significance to the Chinese people. The People’s Republic of China regained its sovereignty on 1st October 1949. Chinese people were liberated from that time. The ceremony is a must-attend event for visitors who wish to understand the solidarity of the Chinese nation.

We are aware that there are quite many China trips in the market, some of which seem to offer a much lower price with the same length of travel. Our travel stands out as it covers nearly all expenses from the start to the end, and a good range of resorts combined with regional cultural activities. Participants need not to worry about catering themselves or trying to find activities to fill in their days. Some free time is of course allowed to enable the participants to organize their own plan under the supervision/advice of the tour guide.
